The Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP)
The Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP) mandates that buildings greater than 6 stories must have their exterior walls inspected every 5 years. When completed, the findings must be filed with the NYC Department of Buildings. Only a NYS Licensed professional engineer or registered Architect can file these reports. And, they must meet the requirements of Administrative Code and 1 RCNY §103-04, It is noted that the NYC Department of Buildings.
FISP reports are filed with one of three types of filing classifications as follows:
- Safe
- Safe with a Repair and Maintenance
- Unsafe
Building owners who fail to file a report, within the specified filing period, are subject to monthly penalties until an acceptable report is filed and approved by the NYC Department of Buildings. The chart below illustrates the two-year filing periods for the three (3) sub-cycles filing periods for the 9th Cycle.
